Calmel & Joseph is a specialized micro-négociant from Languedoc-Roussillon, founded by Laurent Calmel and Jérôme Joseph. In collaboration with about 55 winegrowers from the region, they create wines that perfectly reflect the unique character of the Languedoc. This partnership goes far beyond just purchasing grapes: Calmel & Joseph are involved in the entire process, from pruning and vineyard management to harvest, to ensure fruit of the highest quality.
The strength of the winery lies in the combination of the expertise of both founders. Laurent Calmel, an experienced oenologist with international experience, ensures quality in the vineyard and cellar. Jérôme Joseph brings his background in the hotel industry and is responsible for the creative and commercial vision. Together, they have built Calmel & Joseph into one of the most respected names in Languedoc-Roussillon, with wines that excel in authenticity, elegance, and terroir expression.

Villa Blanche
Villa Blanche is Calmel & Joseph’s iconic varietal line, striking the perfect balance between tradition and modernity. Each wine in this series focuses on a single grape variety, allowing the grape’s origin and character to shine through. With Villa Blanche, Calmel & Joseph showcases the region’s versatility. Classic grape varieties such as Chardonnay, Pinot Noir, Sauvignon Blanc, and Viognier take on a Southern French character here, while lesser-known varieties like Terret Blanc and Marselan also get their moment in the spotlight. Careful vineyard management and precision in the cellar result in approachable, elegant wines with plenty of character and consistent quality.
Amstramgram
Amstramgram is a playful and quirky wine line from Calmel & Joseph, inspired by the French counting rhyme “Amstramgram.” The idea behind this series is simple: no matter which bottle you choose, you can’t go wrong. The collection showcases the versatility of the Languedoc region with surprising blends, unique grape varieties, and diverse wine styles. The eye-catching labels and creative names give each wine its own character and story. Amstramgram thus represents the freest and most playful side of Calmel & Joseph: accessible, modern wines that invite you to discover, share, and above all, enjoy. Or as the winery itself says: “Whatever you choose, it will taste good!”
Les Terroirs
Les Terroirs is de premiumlijn van Calmel & Joseph, waarin het unieke karakter van de mooiste wijngaarden en appellaties van de Languedoc-Roussillon centraal staat. Waar Villa Blanche vooral draait om druivenrassen, ligt de focus bij Les Terroirs juist op herkomst. Iedere wijn vertelt het verhaal van een specifiek terroir, gevormd door bodem, klimaat en landschap. Voor deze serie selecteren Laurent Calmel en Jérôme Joseph zorgvuldig percelen uit gerenommeerde appellaties binnen de regio. Door het terroir zo puur mogelijk te laten spreken, ontstaan wijnen met veel diepgang, complexiteit en een duidelijke regionale identiteit. De vinificatie is erop gericht om de kenmerken van elk gebied te behouden en te versterken.
Les Effervescents
Les Effervescents is Calmel & Joseph’s sparkling wine line, created for festive occasions where elegance, freshness, and drinking pleasure take center stage. Within this collection, the winery combines its expertise from the Languedoc with a refined style that pairs perfectly with aperitifs, cocktail hours, and special occasions. The Rosé Brut is a lively and refined sparkling wine with a fresh mousse, fruity aromas, and an elegant, dry finish. Calmel & Joseph works with dozens of winegrowers throughout the region, but explicitly does not see itself as a traditional wine merchant. The team is involved in the entire process, from pruning and yield management to harvest and winemaking. This close collaboration ensures consistent quality and maximizes the potential of each vineyard.
