Certificates & Quality
Delta Wines continuously strives for the highest quality throughout the entire supply chain. Our goal is to make business processes more efficient, safer, and customer-oriented. Our certifications serve as recognition for our efforts and as motivation to continually implement improvements in our business processes.
IFS Broker
To monitor and ensure the quality of our services while guaranteeing food safety within the chain, Delta Wines obtained the IFS Broker certification in 2020. IFS stands for International Featured Standards and was established in 2003 to ensure the quality and safety of the food chain for retailers and wholesalers. The IFS standard originated in Germany, but French and Italian trade and retail organizations later joined the standard. IFS is often seen as the German, French, or Italian counterpart to the British BRC standard. Since 2021, Delta Wines has consistently achieved a higher level score (above 95%), a performance Delta Wines is proud to showcase.
The IFS Certificate offers Delta Wines numerous benefits:
- IFS Broker ensures that Delta Wines meets the requirements of many retailers (and clients);
- Assurance of food safety for our clients;
- Continuous focus on improvement management;
- Increased awareness of food safety.
Key aspects on which Delta Wines is audited annually include the supplier and product selection process, traceability of goods, the recall procedure, and the risk assessment regarding Food Safety, Food Defense, and Food Fraud.
SKAL
In addition to IFS Broker, Delta Wines also holds the SKAL certification. SKAL Biocontrol acts as a supervisor to ensure the reliability of organic products in the Netherlands. Delta Wines naturally falls under this supervision, especially for the import, storage, and trade of organic products.
The SKAL certificate demonstrates that we are committed to responsibly importing, storing, and shipping organic products. As an importer, Delta Wines plays a crucial role in the organic chain, and the SKAL certificate shows that this responsibility is taken seriously. Key points on which Delta Wines is audited annually include the incoming inspection of goods, traceability of goods, and potential registration in Traces (for wines from the New World).
This certification requirement may also apply to your physical points of sale, such as retail chains, independent stores, and market stalls. Your webshop may also be subject to registration and/or certification requirements. To be certain whether your business is required to obtain certification, we kindly refer you to the SKAL website (https://www.skal.nl/toezicht/certificatieplicht). This helps you avoid potential issues and fines.
Demeter
In addition to IFS Broker and SKAL, Delta Wines also holds a Demeter certification. Demeter is a quality mark for companies that produce or trade biodynamic products.
Demeter acts as a supervisor to ensure the reliability of biodynamic products in the Netherlands. Delta Wines naturally falls under this supervision, particularly for the import, storage, and trade of biodynamic products.
The Demeter certificate demonstrates that we are committed to responsibly importing, storing, and shipping biodynamic products. As an importer, Delta Wines plays a crucial role in the chain, and the Demeter certificate shows that this responsibility is taken seriously. Key points on which Delta Wines is audited include the incoming inspection of goods, traceability of goods, the recall procedure, and maintenance plans.
KVNW Registered Wine Merchant
In addition to IFS Broker, SKAL, and Demeter certification, Delta Wines also holds the KVNW Quality Mark. Approximately 265 million bottles of wine are sold in the Netherlands each year. Members of the Royal Association of Dutch Wine Merchants (KVNW), the only national trade association for Dutch wine importers and wholesalers, are responsible for over 80% of the wine sold in the Dutch market. KVNW members distinguish themselves with a protected and distinctive quality mark: the KVNW Registered Wine Merchant quality mark.
Delta Wines Netherlands has received this quality mark from KVNW and is listed as a registered Wine Merchant. With the KVNW quality mark, Delta Wines demonstrates compliance with KVNW’s requirements regarding quality, sustainability, and corporate social responsibility. Every four years, our processes are reassessed by an auditor to maintain our KVNW quality mark.
Key points on which Delta Wines is audited include the supplier and product selection process, traceability of goods, (wine) training for employees, workplace safety, and sustainability.
